Similar Faces #2

Lithography Project #3 I completed all on my own. As some might know the etching and printing process is really complicated, and if you mess up a little step within it all you can ruin your plate. So this was my first time really taking charge and remembering the steps involved. I am really pleased with the results and  I can't wait to see all these little circles up on the wall together. So far I have only sewn together on to the mesh material, but more will be coming soon :)

Plate during the drawing stage

Two layer lithography print. 1st layer a green background created with tusche wash. 2nd layer is drawn with lithography pencils. Then sewn together on the mesh material and attached to a circulera frame.

Memory Project Portrait

I recently took part in the Memory Project. What is the Memory Project you ask: Well..

The Memory Project is a unique initiative in which art students create portraits (drawings, paintings, digital art, etc) for children and teens around the world who have been orphaned, neglected, or disadvantaged.

To do this, the artists receive photos of kids waiting for portraits and then work from those photos to create the portraits. Next, we deliver the portraits to the kids as gifts. We also take photos of the kids receiving the portraits so the artists can see those special moments.
The goal of the project is to inspire caring, global friendship, and a positive sense of self.

I painted this beautiful, smiley little boy and this summer he will receive this painting and hopefully keep it forever :)

LITHOGRAPHY. my new art making obsession. The prints above were created by drawing on a block of smooth limestone. Then etched in a magical way, to then print pretty little delicate drawings. These are the first of a series I am creating in my lithography class. So stay tuned for more.

Works in Progress

This semester I have been trying out new techniques and materials within printmaking and painting. Here is a little update with some of the pieces I have been working on.
